Designed in 1972 by Robin Day for the education market, the E Series polypropylene range of chairs and stools uses the same principles as his classic polypropylene chair; a low cost, mass production piece of furniture.
It shows extreme strength and durability making it ubiquitous in educational establishments. The polypropylene collection of seating is acknowledged to be one of the most innovative seating developments this century.
The seat and back of the chair are made in one piece from injection moulded polypropylene which allows it to be tough and durable. No other known material has as favourable a combination of weight, strength, chemical resistance, rigidity and resilience.
A range of sizes ensures that it can be used throughout schools, colleges and universities, ranging from the largest in staff rooms and assembly halls to the smaller sizes, suitable for all ages of children.
Stacking and have passed the rigorous performance tests for strength and suitability for severe contract applications whilst the shells are also available with fire retardant properties to BS 852 part 2 Ignition source 5.
The frame is supplied as shown in Grey. A Black epoxy or Light Grey frame is also available.
Upholstered seat cushions are also available for the chair shell. (Can not be ordered retrospectively.)
